Team Hillary is back to lying in mailers and robocalls. Apparently there are more lies about Obama's 100% pro-choice positions in CT and now a robocall in AZ, the co-retirement capital of the U.S., she's lying about his social security position pretending Obama will raise the retirement age or even privatize social security.
People can complain all they want about Obama's health care mailer talking about Hillary mandating health care -- and whether or not the kitchen-table couple was a dog whistle to remind people about 1993 -- but at least they weren't lying in the piece. Hillary's position IS to mandate health insurance.
I am so very tired of the Clinton's lies.
AZ Robocall Hits Obama On Social Security
Per NJ Contributing Editor Linda Douglass, this call is reportedly going out to Arizona voters:
WOMAN: This is Ann calling on behalf of Hillary Clinton for President. Hillary Clinton has been a tireless fighter for seniors [unintelligible]. Barack Obama has said when it comes to Social Security all options should be put on the table. That includes raising the retirement age and cutting benefits. He has even proposed raising Social Security taxes by a trillion dollars. Hillary Clinton stood up to Bush’s plan to privatize Social Security and is against raising the retirement age. When you go to the polls tomorrow cast your vote for the Democrat committed to protecting Social Security as we know it: Hillary Clinton.
Obama's ACTUAL POSITION on the issue:
Protect Social Security
Obama is committed to ensuring Social Security is solvent and viable for the American people, now and in the future. Obama will be honest with the American people about the long-term solvency of Social Security and the ways we can address the shortfall. Obama will protect Social Security benefits for current and future beneficiaries alike. And he does not believe it is necessary or fair to hardworking seniors to raise the retirement age. Obama is strongly opposed to privatizing Social Security.
Obama believes that the first place to look for ways to strengthen Social Security is the payroll tax system. Currently, the Social Security payroll tax applies to only the first $97,500 a worker makes. Obama supports increasing the maximum amount of earnings covered by Social Security and he will work with Congress and the American people to choose a payroll tax reform package that will keep Social Security solvent for at least the next half century.
